Meet The Author
Born and raised in NJ as a second-generation Chinese American, David Yuen received a B.A. from Rutgers University and has been writing poetry along with other writing styles for over twenty years. His works have appeared in other publications including Poetry East and Romantics Quarterly.
Life is a gift. A fleeting, complicated, painful gift. Life holds death, it holds struggle with God, and it holds precious relationships we easily take for granted. And with every event that threatens life as we know it, our perspective on it changes, whether it’s a pandemic, a shift in politics, the tragedy of war, or personal loss. This Too Shall Pass is an exploration of life—sorrowful, mysterious, funny, and beautiful—through a collection of poems, prose, memoir, and commentary written from a mostly Christian perspective. Life is no small thing. Life is no easy thing. Life is uncertain. But one thing is certain about life: it’s miraculous.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About David Yuen
1. Took fencing in high school and was pretty bad at it.
2. Enjoys American and Canadian Folk Music
3. Had one of his first major internships at a radioactive superfund site, which was 5 minutes away from his home, which was good in that the commute was short but bad because it was only 5 minutes away from his home.
4. Double majored in English and Environmental Science in college and went on to get an advanced degree in Environmental Science. Ended up working at a job that involved neither major.
5. Suffers from OCD and went to a therapist for a few years to deal with it.
6. Has three nephews all with Old Testament names (Joshua, Caleb, and Daniel).
7. Has a strong interest in the Irish culture to the point where he cooks a corned beef and cabbage dinner for his Christian fellowship almost every year. Later found out that most people in Ireland don’t even eat corned beef (but they eat cabbage so he wasn’t completely off).
8. Has a soft spot for tabletop gaming, DC superheroes, and Lord of the Rings.
9. My favorite activity involves watching a lot of public television specifically cooking and travel shows.
10. Guilty pleasures include gummy candies, pizza, pastries, and intentionally bad movies.
